I'd love to see some of those Kate Beckinsale's photos. Oh my bad. The airplane. Wink

SuppressionFire

Here are some more pictures from the show, how about some aircraft?

The club each year has a theme contest amongst themselves, last years winner picks this years theme. This year it was 'heavy bombers'

Here are my three favorites, I voted for the German aircraft due to its complex camouflage markings, everyone in attendance (club member or not) was invited to vote. A Liberator won (not pictured)

Nice! I've got the classic Airfix 1/72 in my stash, hoping to get to it this summer/fall. I've never been big on bombers, but there's something about the look of the -177. Do you know which kit this one was?

Thanks for the pics Jason, wish I could have gotten up for it this year, I just had too many places to be on Saturday. For anyone looking for more pics, they have competition coverage on the club website: Capital Area Modelers Society . The 2011 photos aren't up yet, but there are all sorts there from previous years. Some really good stuff, a shame it's too far out of the way for FSM coverage.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Not really my 'thing' yet these were really well done and caught my eye:

The judges choice for 'Best in Show' Good to see they have open minds for the unique subjects:

Well that is it for my photographs from CAMS 2011. Thanks for checking out the excellent entries!

One entry gathered a lot of attention, a model of the Japanese battleship Yamato. It was my favorite at the contest, every person that entered was asked to vote on 'best of show' I knew this one would take the top prize, which it did:

Met the modeler who was very humble and did not expect the award. Canadian indeed!

Maritime themes for the Maritime Region:
Posted by SuppressionFire on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 5:35 AM

Well here are the rest of the photographs from the contest.

Living in Nova Scotia its appropriate to get some maritime themes up! There are the best of the ships:

A builder that makes masters for Resin Shipyard entered two prototypes, needless to say they scored very well, yet I wonder if  professional model builders are more like Sharks in the Goldfish bowl?

Aircraft that was eye catching, 'Heavy Bombers'

This Super Fortress was well done, the landing gear was a tad off & not sitting flat on all fours:

A Japanese prototype in bright orange. I liked the variation & subtle weathering as its a difficult color to work with:

Of course there were excellent Me 109's, Fw 190's, Zeros, Kates etc

For whatever reason I never took photographs of the single engine aircraft. Lots of top examples here all ready in the forums!

Labour in vain? Not if Goose replied!

Sprue-ce Goose

Thanks for the post.

If you have a lot of photos- I mean a huge number- perhaps a new imageshack , flikr ot photobucket account and a link rather than post on FSM.

Just a thought.

BTW...completely agree about the bridge layer monotone paint.

Tanks for the reply Goose!

No only about 24+/- pictures. What I meant was posts with dozens of pictures / post that take up the entire page. I will post em' as piece meal a bit at a time so the post is easier to digest.

I believe its because we hold ourselves to a higher standard and like to see some paint chips, mud, rust and everything that makes a tank a tank. Don't get me wrong the Bridge Layer is excellent... as a factory fresh vehicle.

Outdoors calls today as we have not had many sunny ones yet. I will post a bit more later on.

Basically the pictures are of my favorites, two won the highest awards at the contest so I am not out to lunch on the 'best of show' ect.

Jason

Some excellent entries as usual.

Had contacted FSM & the club Capital Area Modeler's Society To elevate the contest or rename it to 'Atlantic Regional Model Contest) or ARMC.

Wanted to volunteer as a photographer to get a small part of 'Great Scale Modeling' to feature the contest... was not meant to be so attended anyway & entered 6 models. Here are the highlights:

The format was points system but not 'Olympic' style awards IE 1 Gold, 1 Silver & 1 Bronze. Multiple of each was possible in each category depending on entries & points earned by each.

This converted Churchill Bridge layer won Gold & 'Best Military Heavy' award. Very nice construction yet the mono-tone paint lacked a second look in my humble opinion:

A Sherman Firefly was my favorite in 'Military Heavy' Almost looks like the same painter as the Bridge layer, it was a different guy and it earned a Gold:

This Sherman was 1/72 scale & I liked it as well, not sure how it scored, seems the same school of painting was done also, nice but lacking 'Bam!'

I don't like single posts that go on forever, will add more later on if there is some interest.Cool
