Erik, I remember reading about correction tape being used, not masking tape. Sorry, I can't remember which issue I saw it in.

Masking tape?
Posted by kaleu on Saturday, January 24, 2004 9:03 PM
I remember reading a tip in FSM about using masking tape to cover the motorizing holes on older Tamiya kits. The idea being that the tape would help give a smooth finish, but would not pull up the putty/super glue filler. Does anybody remember reading this tip, and if so, was it regular tape or masking tape (the yellow stuff) TIA.
