Kitmaker Monogram used to make a terrific clear-plastic skinned 1:32 scale P51 fighter plane called the 'Phantom Mustang', but here's an earlier example of such work.
Seventy-odd years ago GM built a small number of full-sized cars with clear plastic bodies to showcase their internal parts and one of them, a four-door Pontiac, has turned up at RM auctions at St. John's, in Plymouth, Michigan.
The car was built for the 1939-1940 New York World’s Fair and has a flathead-six under the bonnet and white tyres.
It's predicted it could bring more than $NZ600,000. Yes, it does run, and has 86 miles on the clock.
Go on, you'd love it wouldn't you?
