I loves a Bargain!
Posted by cml on Thursday, June 30, 2011 10:22 PM

Ok,

So, about 4 weeks ago, i saw this model in a LHS.

They had 3 there, all marked at $80.

I then went to a toy shop close by my house.  They had two, one marked at $80, the other marked at $50 - woohoo!!! Mis-priced!!!

Bought it last night.

Now, 2 things:

1. I know a lot of you guys here from North America probably think $50 for a model is exy, BUT in Australia, that's pretty good for a 1/35 Dragon; and

2. It worked out the same as if i'd purchased online from LuckyModel.com.

Anyhow, none of my friends are into models, so i just had to share my joy.

Chris.

Nice. I love price mistakes when they are in my favor...lol. That's a good deal. I was in a Hobby Lobby that had a Revell Spitfire marked $35...I went to another one down the road and got it for $7....lol

That's a tremendous deal!  When you see things like that, it's a crime not to buy (even if you already have exactly the same model in your stash Wink)

That's the kind of bargain a stash is made of!

Got home today to find UPS had brought me the Trumpeter 1/32 P-47D-30 I snagged off Great Models last weekend for 50% off (about $70). Still not cheap, but about $30 less than I've ever seen it anywhere else, even at shows. I'll take it!

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Yeah, that is how my stash has gotten so big.  Can't pass up a bargain.  I have also stumbled on inexperienced folks posting a kit on ebay without good identifiers, so there is little visibility and little competition.  Got some first rate kits for a song that way...rare, but satisfying.

 On the Bench: 1:48 HobbyBoss Ta152-C; 1:48 & 1:72 Hasegawa F-104G NATO Bavaria

In queue: 1:48 Academy F-4B & a TBD Eric Hartmann bird

Ahhh, Reny's and Marden's.... two of the things I miss most about living in Maine... Stick out tongue

I remember the last time I was in Marden's in Waterville (Maine) with a buddy of mine. In the toy 'department' they had the Tamiya Bradley with Interior for $10 (still in the original shrink wrap). I bought it in a heartbeat and gave it to an Army friend of mine who had served as a Bradley driver. I just wish they had had a second one!
