I noticed, at my HL,  their 2 A6M5 Zeke kits were marked down to that too...  Still, at 35.00, it's too much scratch for a 1/48th single-engine/single seat kit.. They gotta come down another 10-15 bucks before I'll budge on it..  Now, if they'd marked it down to the price of the A6M2, it'd be another story, at 21.00... The only way I'd purchase a 35.00 kit is with the 40% coupon, and since you can't get 40% off the clearance price, some other "lucky" modeler with more dollars than sense will have to take 'em...

Meantime, my 8.00 Monogram A6M5 Zeke continues to take shape...Toast

I did manage to grab the Tamiya 1/35th Jeep kit for 13 bucks and change though, marked down from 22.00...

I agree with Hans....I noticed HL first clearance prices their kits at 40% and I could have done that anytime.  But I wait until it gets below that price.  Right now, I got my eyes on the Tamiya Swordfish at clearance price, hoping it will dip seriously below the $49 clearance price.

Yeah, I'm watching that Stringbag as well as the Betty...  I noticed a guy hangin' around the area yesterday... Gotta go back and check today to make sure he didn't snag one o' those Zekes... I want BOTH...

Usually, I stash a kit I want (but am short on money) in the store somewhere, well away from the kit aisle, but if I do that, then they can't mark it down, lol..

It's the thrill of the hunt, man.... I'm stalking these kits like Ted Nugent on a boar hunt...

i usually just get kits at my LHS because of better deals. he has the tam a6m5 for $29. i was looking at the hase 48scale F-22 and it was a $100. went to the LHS and he had it for $49. he has a stack of all markdowns.

I wish we had an LHS left out here, but all we have is a HobbytownUSA which is majorly overpriced, and that's basically it.  I am starting to try and concentrate more on 1/32 scale due to bad eyesight and shaky hands, and it's hard to find stuff affordably except for eBay  And even if you find something on eBay, you usually get sniped.  I just got sniped on a Revell 1/32 F4E kit a few hours ago.  I had saved my eBay bucks and lost it by about $3.20, so a good LHS with decent prices and good occasional deals would be most welcome around here.  Well, I'm off to hunt for another 1/32 Phantom.  Wish me luck, I am going to need it.

I don't have a HobbTownUSA here in Houston (used to but I guess they left, sucks). I do have three LHS and HobbyLobby's here. Just depends on what I'm looking for on where I go. That is a nice deal on the viper though.
