Hobby Lobby's Facebook page show and tell
Posted by iraqiwildman on Monday, July 11, 2011 8:44 AM

Hobby Lobby now has "Show and Tell" on their Facebook page.

Maybe if we get a lot of modelers to post pictures of their builds, it might get them to  increase their selection.

I posted a couple armor kits I built last year and plan on doing this every week.

To promote the hobby. Posting to Hobby Lobby's FB page may even introduce new modelers to the hobby & show people they do sell modeling supplies & a few kits.

This in return may prompt the store to expand their line of products which will in return draw more modelers in. A win - win if you will.

Starting a Model club out here. As a initial promotion we are hosting a 'Model Expo' to build momentum & interest in the hobby & club. Next year we hope to host a contest. In return the hobby & collectable store which carries a few kits & paints is offering up prizes. If it sparks business for models he will expand his selection. Already he offered to sponsor a few kits for prizes, will hold off on the offer until the contest next year.

'Central Nova Scotia Modelers' is the club name. If successful it will host the only true model contest in the province. There is another yet its a hobby show not a true model contest. That is the other is judged by all entrants. Needless to say the winners are most likely the largest in category or everyone's favorite, not necessarily the best built on the table.

Not to hijack the thread, just another example of how the hobby can be expanded & promoted.

*Exact dates of Expo & location will be posted in a separate thread. Looks like September 10, 2011 in Truro's Library conference room.

I always print out a few extra 40% coupons and have them with me when I go in.. There's always someone who didn't know about 'em...

I had the last manager at my HL sold on a display area for kits bought there and built by the locals...  The current manager though, he's a 14-karat Richard...
