I am going to take this post and change it very slightly and put it on SCALE AUTO,S site too .The main thing is in a radius that has SAN ANTONIO as the off center locus, .Tthe things we use to finish our models(-I.E. Sandpaper , BONDO(if applicable) and brass sheet or rod)The other part of this lopsided oval is AUSTIN , TX. The varius grits of finishing paper ,1000, 2000, 2,500 ,and up are NOT as with the other items , NOT readily availabile.I spent the betterpart of a week ,just trying to find the BONDO .The Brass , except the amounts available in HOBBY LOBBY. was a dead end . Buying at HOBBY LOBBY could bankrupt some folks projects real quick.Even HOBBY TOWN cannot be depended on to have a large enough supply of what we need . That is if they even have that item in stock or on their supply lists. Now the BONDO I refer to is that brand,s U.V. triggered type .If you do 1/96 scale ships from wood, you out there in TEXAS who live elsewhere in the state are out of luck .UNLESS , you have a very friendly O,REILLY,S auto parts store manager who really does want your business . Mine sat at the computer for over an hour and found All the items including the sheet brass , .015 and .032 as well as the BONDO and sandpaper . All I have to do is give him two days lead time and he will get it for me . As far as LOWES , HOME DEPOT , and other places we usually shop at FUGGEDABOUDIT !!! That,s the state of these things being easily obtainable here . I think we should make fellow modelers aware of the difficulties of getting supplies for our projects in a given area . Where we live can,t be helped . I sometimes feel like a consiracy nut when I think of how much easier it is to find those items outside the state I live in . I have gone as far as DALLAS and can,t find a shop that sells LEXAN , LUCITE etc ,to build cases . There is one wholesaler in DALLAS , but , if you are not a business they won,t deal with you .EVEN ON SCRAPS !!! When I lived in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA those items and many others were available in a twenty five mile radius to all comers. That says it all . tankerbuilder
