 Hans von Hammer:

Another thing that does it is REALLY long links...

Drives me nuts..

This can be easily avoided by the poster going to www.tinyurl.com and pasting the long link in there.  It will spit back a short link that one can use.

Its even simpler than that.. you can turn this www.tinyurl.com (pretend its a really long URL) into this  by simply typing text, highlighting it,  and clicking the insert/edit link icon.

no need to go anywhere else.

Yes, usually to do with images over a certain size.......

The strange thing is, I can go to whatever page & it's resized correctly, with the "click here" link below it - I can then go to the same page later on & the images are shown full size, stretching the page as you describe? Clearing my browser cache seems to have no effect on this, so I'm also figuring that it has something to do with forum software.

Ditto to all the above.  This is also a result of the browser you are using.  It seems, in my experience, Google Chrome and Firefox have the most occurrences whereas IE8+ works the best.

The best example/test you can try and see this issue over and over is the Helicopter conversation group in this forum. Try opening it with several browsers and you will the issue rear its ugly head with all except IE.  By they way I am NOT an IE fan but in this case it seems to be the best for this forum.  ...my 2 cents

Also, if someone doesn't re-size a photo to properly (480 x 600 or therabouts,  is the preferred size of picture) fit the page it displays HUGE, and every subsequent post on that page will do the same thing...

The forum software will automatically re-size SOME photos, but others are just TOO BIG no matter what, so it's up to the poster to re-size them on his/her storage site..

It also happens because of posters who've got too many big photos in their signatures, and yet few enough characters in the url, to get by the limit.

Another thing that does it is REALLY long links...

Drives me nuts..

I usually send a quick message to the person responsible for over-sized pics and siggys, but sometimes it doesn't work, so you just gotta live with it until the next page...

Not to put too much onto this, but this editor (the software) is quirky. It is very touchy. If a post includes a image that is abutted (no carriage break), it is processed on same viewing line like this:

Where there is a break, it honors it like this:

Simple, no? (I wish there was a “help” function.)

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

Hello;

I have been wondering this for awhile now. Why is it some posts display on screen properly and others you have to scroll over to see to the end of the sentences.
