Osprey Sighting - Mid TN

I see em 5 days a week. I pass the plant where they build them going to and from work. I never get tired at seeing that thing fly.

I'm still waiting to see them out here on the West Coast. I see  Cobras, Sea Stallions, or Sea Knights coming up the coast from Pendleton all the time, but have yet to see an Osprey...

You know Stik about a year ago I was sitting outside at the Mall while the kid ran around dropping off job apps. I got that old subsonic feeling against your chest you used to get from the big two bladed Bells long before you hear them. Then an Osprey came just zipping over. Very impressive.

Taking my comments in alphabetic order by height:

Wouldn’t that be a GREAT diorama? (I suspect any modeller would have to finesse the hovering using clear plastic rods.)

And here’s one of my hot buttons: The Executive Staff wants to replace the “Marine 1” fleet. They do *NOT* want to use the Osprey. *IF* the Osprey is “acceptable” for our troops, why isn’t it equally acceptable for the Commander in Chief flying between Camp David and the White House?

It's a combat weapon. It's design sacrifices a lot in trade for speed and mobility. Also Can you imagine one landing in the middle of a big group of reporters and other civilians? That'd be fun!

Qppreys look funny and kind of wierd while in flight. Occasionally, I see the B-2 steath fly over from Whiteman AFB.

Oh, like landing behind 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? A V-22 cruises at 277 mph for 1,011 miles; a Sea King cruises at 166 mph for 621 miles. Let's see, from the White House to Camp David, that's 65 miles (25 minutes for an Osprey, 40 minutes for a Sea King)?
