R.O.G.-HERMANN MARWEDE rescue boat - 1/200 scale
Just thought I would drop a few lines about this kit . As some know, I have done the AIRFIX - RNLI rescue boat ,well it,s still a WIP. I just recently acquired this little vessel .The rails are molded on all the parts and are seperate for the stairs .They look heavy so , I spent all day thinning them to a more scale looking appearance . The hull is three parts (two sides and the transom (stern) piece) And they are molded very well . The cabins don,t have open windows , but , they are very clearly molded .The vessel even includes the " DAUGHTER " vessel which resides in a well at the stern .There is also a very nice rendition of a ZODIAC with it,s own seperate outboard . So far the instructions , if followed , don,t take you astray . All in all to this point a very well thought out and presented kit of a vessel you don,t see around this country . I just wish that REVELL had given more thought to the SMIT ROTTERDAM and SMIT HOUSTON in the same scale . The glaring error there is the second level rails almost connect to the deckhouse (you have to widen the deck to make it look right !).This is no problem with this kit .The cabin parts fit so well I didn,t think of filler putty at all .OH ! the daughter vessel has the screw molded solid with the rudder and skeg .With careful carving you can create the proper space between the rudder and the screw , Just be gentle ! The decal sheet is in register but small .They only include what they think you need . tankerbuilder
