my 1:1 collection...lots of photos
Posted by castelnuovo on Thursday, October 6, 2011 11:55 PM

Gentlemen,

After visiting my old country of Montenegro, I took some photos of my military collection (aka "junk that takes up the place in the garage" according to my mom Big Smile) and thought to share them...

So here they are...

To start with the oldest, these are Turkish cannonballs. The bigs are about 15 cm in diameter.

This one is of the exploding type

Venetian "wanted" sign, check out the date...

These two are not mine but I thought to put them here anyway Whistling

This one is about 4 feet long

and this one about 5 feet

This fort is called "Kanli Kula", which is Turkish for tower of blood.

And in the prison, the carvings on the wall are still visible.

A sailing boat

and some arabic letters

My great-grand dads hat sign when he was serving in Austro-Hungarian army in late 1880s

Sword from Royal Yugoslavian ship "Dubrovnik" from 1930s

To move to some newer stuff...

Italian bayonet and a knife of unknown origine.

This could be a machinegun barell

A pistol, or what is left of it, found in the ground. Note the hexagonal barell

Parts of German and Italian first aid kit

Helmets:

German, found in the sea, almost fell appart as I took it out

Italians

Is this Russian?

Italian bullet cartridge, holds 6 bulets. Found in the sea

Anti aircraft bullets

Barbed wire holders...sorry, I forgot to rotate the photo. There are thousands of these around.

Bullets found in the sea. I don't know what is the thing at the bottom.

More bullets from the sea, origin unknown. The 3rd from the left is Italian

Gas mask, but I am not sure if the filter bilongs to it

This is about 15cm long but I don't know what it is.

Pistol bullets, origin unknown

Artilery rounds. The bottom is too worn out to read the caliber or the date. They are about 12-15 cm in caliber

Cool stuff!

Surely somebody around here can identify the pistol and MG barrel.MG34 possibly?

WOW! That's a really impressive collection!

Did you find/salvage all those items yourself?

I'm no expert, but that mortar shell and those rounds - i'm guessing they're too old to be dangerous/live?  Or is that a rookie mistake?

Thanks for sharing.

The fourth from last has to be a mortar round.

Very cool collection! I have started to collect a few items myself- I have an SS helmet and a Luftwaffe helmet - all bought, not found by me! In one way, it would be cool to live in Europe- I'd be out all the time with a metal detector looking for some finds. I am sure there are some war of 1812 articles buried in the area where I live, but they probably are amost completely rusted away.

On the bench:  Revell 1/72 HCMS Snowberry

TD4438

The fourth from last has to be a mortar round.

I am not sure... It is only about 15 cm long and maybe 3-4 cm caliber wise. I think it is too small for a mortar round. Could it be some kind of a rifle grenade?
