It started innocently enough. I dug the Airfix Stirling out of the loft one Christmas. It had been sitting up there for a few years along with a few paints. I hadn't modeled since I was a kid. I'm now 44, I thought I could handle it.
Then someone bought me the Airfix BBMF set and a magazine on model making. I was hooked. I had to try some filler and brush painting just didn't seem good enough. So I invested in a cheap airbrush. It wasn't the time taken to perfect those canopy masks or the Alclad paints that started the downward spiral, or the Iwata air brush. But I know had a Lancaster and a Stirling. I couldn't stop until I had finished `Bomber Command`.
The Fw200 was just a diversion I kept telling myself. Then along came the Hampden. I was unfortunate enough to win a Frog Whitley. Avro Manchester's only came in resin. My god, I'm now doing resin. I just have to say no!
I just had to have the photo etched cookie and RAF bomb set (not to mention refuler). But I don't know how to do photo etch? The Walrus and Me163 will give me the courage to tackle this. But why oh why do the shops have a sale in Lockheed Globemaster Air to Air tankers. I don't do 50's stuff!
A Blenheim. 2 P38's (why 2?), FW190, Handley Page Heyford (because it's a limited release), 2 RAF Recovery Sets (forgot I had that one) and a Cavalry Soldier on Horse Back with Apache Scout (this is getting serious).
I now have more aircraft than AMARC. My girlfriend bought me a litre of Isopropyl Alcohol for my birthday so I can perfect Mr Surfacer smoothing techniques. Weathering, Dry Brushing, Hair Spray, Salt, Filters, Pre Shading. WHERE WILL IT END!!!
I need help fellow modelers. I'm running out of space, cash and ultimately time to build my stash (which now includes naval and pre-war as well as warhammer). When will the torture end?!*@
Now, what about that scratch built Osprey and Catapult.....i'll get me coat.
