Hannants Ordering Query
Posted by Dick McC2 on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 6:35 AM

On Sept 23rd after unsuccessfully finding a Stateside dealer for a "must have" sheet of decals, I placed an order for them  from Hannants/UK. On Sept. 24th they advised via e-mail they had been dispatched. To date, Oct 18th,  I have not received them.  I have e-mailed Hannants twice regarding the order's status without any response.  I noted on my latest credit card statement the Hannants charge had gone through. Can anyone give me any idea of how long it takes for orders from Hannants to reach the middle of the U.S.? Plus, has anyone had bad experiences with them?

Have placed three orders with Hannants since last year--the most recent on 16 Oct.  First came very quickly.  Second order took weeks.  The word was that US authorities were checking packages coming into the US by airmail  between Nov last year and Jan this year, and created a huge backlog.  The order did eventually arrive.  You may be experiencing the same thing.  Normallly they do ship the next day, but after the package gets into the hands of the postal service, and has to pass through security, it can get delayed.

I also emailed them once at the time, but also received no reply, so there seems to be something lacking there in customer response.

At the time (Nov 10 to Jan 11), there was another UK hobby shop (Model Hobbies) that actually suspended shipping to the US while the increased security measures were in effect.

I expect you'll get your order, and I hope to get mine, but it may take awhile if US authorities have some more stringent procedures in effect.

The two times I ordered from them everything I ordered arrived - eventually. I rather suspect that our ICE *** are at it again ... gotta' make sure those decal sheets and random blobs of resin and plastic don't get turned into WMDs, you know.

Today, 10/19/11, I finally received the decals from Hannants. I don't think I'll have time to build up the F-100F and use them - "City of Barstow" (Chuck Yeager's plane out of George AFB) for a Christmas present for my buddy who lives there in Barstow, but the thought will be there. I appreciate the responses; you were probably right and ICE held them up. Thanks again.

Glad your order finally arrived. I am a bit dissapointed that they did not reply to you.

there does seem to be a bit of an issure with items going between the US and UK, it may even be Europe as a whole. One of the forum members ordered the revell He 111 kit from hannants some time ago. After a few weeks he contacted hannants, and it seemed the item was stuck in Dubai. Why it went there i have no idea, its in the opposite direction. In the end hannants sent him a replacement.

then a couple of weeks ago this same member sent me a parcel. I got it the other day with tape on it from Dubai customs.

It may be that some, possably all items going between our two countries are going via Dubai, and this may be where the problem lies.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

We occasional sent goods to the US & about 3/4 of them arrive on a timely basis (5-10 working days), but the remaining 1/4 sometimes take up to 4 weeks to arrive. Obviously I don't know for sure, but I suspect it's a customs issue...............

Merely an update--my order from Hannant's, placed on 16 October, was packed 17 October, shipped 18 October and arrived today, 24 October--better than some in-country (USA) merchants.

Glad we all got our orders--now, no plastic withdrawl.
