I believe you have to pull the trigger backwards to release more paint. This would give give you double action. Welcome to the forums Tim. So if you pushed down only, you'd get single action only.

I'd bet you have some paint dried somewhere it shouldn't be and is causing the needle to stick out some. Look around the inside of it very carefully and imagine where paint might collect, then clean it very carefully as well. Hopefully that would get it.

Timothy, no matter what you do, DO NOT soak the body in thinner to clean it. You will destroy the trigger all together!! I think that Madda is probably right, and you will need to clean out a paint clog.

You forgot to adjust the airbrush. Read the instructions to do the calibration. The airbrush is designed to also work in single action mode. There is a thumbscrew in the back that you adjust. What you want to do is attach a jar of water and press the trigger down but not back. Adjust the thumbscrew in the back until no water comes out when you press the trigger all the way down but not back.

I think hungfarlow (hehehe, gotta find that name funny :) is right. Make sure you read the instructions on how to calibrate your airbrush properly. The A470 works as both a single and double action airbrush, and that cylinder near the back of it is used to calibrate the needle. To find out whether or not you have a paint clog, simply turn the know all the way to the left (I think it's left :) and you should see the needle tip protrude all the way out (about 2 mm). Press the trigger, and if stuff comes out, then something is wrong, as that should be the fully closed position.
Once again, review the instructions on calibrating the airbrush. It's a fairly decent one :)
