the 229 thread was an in-joke between a number of forum members that spawned an additional number of other in-jokes, that eventually spread throughout various threads in the forum. A few people got angered over what they deemed "nonsense" and the participants of the in-jokes defended themselves and the fight escalated from there. The arguments got so out of hand that Aaron Skinner deleted the entire Odds and Ends forum, as well as any threads pertaining to the subject. A number of members were banned in the process, but I dont know who. It has become a touchy subject since.

I'll follow up Owl's response with mine to that and other such threads, in my best William Demarest impression, "Holy cow, don't you guys have models ta build or somethin' ?!"

Wasn't the original thread, so much as the "threads concerned about the thread", that was cancerous. Anyway, old news now - and welcome back from your modeling vacation!

Ha I didn't think about the ZeroBig Smile.

I was equating the forums as a community that has a "government" and that we are citizens of that community...etc etc. LOL

Manstein's revenge

Did ya'll see Fermis' deer kill?

That photo would make a great diorama.

What is the largest scale human figure available in styrene ?

Tamiya 1/20th scale?

Or is it possible to modify a Dragon 1/6th scale figure?

Styrene deer figures may be hard to come by in anything but an old AURORA  kit, though.

NYC? Out of curiosity, how much of a PITA is logging in and posting from mobile communication devices?

It's actually quite easy. Use the notepad for writing, copy, then paste on the page. But I didn't expect this to be a Spanish Inquisition:

RESlusher

I had problems posting initially from my iPad2; but ever since I updated to iOS5 I haven't had a bit of trouble.

I use the free WiFi on the commuter train between Dallas and Fort Worth twice a day and haven't had any issues with browsing or refreshing.

Good news for potential Apple product purchasers.

I don't know all the politics that went on nor do I really care, but as a casual lurker and sometime participant in the forum I really do miss Odds & Ends.  I think most people kept it civil and if a few problem children were banned why punish the rest of us.

At  the risk of personal banishment or thread lock I petition for a return.
