1/700P.E. and old eyes .
MMHM , I got involved in 1/700 scale ships, six to be exact . Yeah , I know ,I am always saying go for it .This wasn,t something I planned . These things need P.E. to make them look right . That,s the rub . I am presently using G.M.M.products for "ESSEX class carriers ."I thought when I recieved them that LOREN forgot to send my material", MY GOSH ! these things are tiny and fine . Well, now comes the really important part . I almost can,t see them with my old naked eyes . So I came up with a solution that,s been around for years , it just finally bit me .A magnifier ! AHA ! Gee , I am bright ,NOT !!! The one I bought turned out to be useless for building 1/700 anything . NEXT , my landlady said here try this .It was one of the binocular type that fit over the head with adjustable strengths and a loupe as well . WOW !! I can actually see those little scudders now. Then I got another bright idea .Why not paint the P.E. BEFORE, I cut them little parts from the fret . VIOLA !! I have set in place today four inclined ladders, two rail runs on the island and installed the framing for the bottom of the elevator .There is a third component here that I have to mention . The best tool you can have for working in this scale is the ability to think smaller than 1/350 ! Once you get the three components together ,it,s no harder than 1/350 . I still don,t like things this small , but , when the ship you want is only available in this scale whatta you gonna do ? BUILD it and SHUT UP is what my DADDY would,ve told me . So there you have it ,some tips for old dogs and the ability to learn new tricks . I guess I,ll HAVE to go out and buy that container-ship now . tankerbuilder
