FWIW, I'll agree with the point that Squadron's search engine needs an overhaul, yet I've found those things that I was shopping for by using the one that they do have...  it just takes time and a few cold beverages.

My only complaint against them would be that they don't have any AM decals for 1/32 Flankers... hence my experience with Hannant's.

Last time I ordered from them, it was a Historex 54mm mounted figure, a plastic kit; weight maybe an ounce and a half. I paid standard shipping, about $6 at the time. I could have paid maybe $15 for expedited shipping, about twice the cost of the kit. After 3 weeks, I called to find out if they had shipped it, and was told it would arrive soon, which it did a few days later.

I've ordered similarly sized packages from France and England and have paid half the price or less for shipping and gotten the items in about  a week. Orders from Coloado Miniatures, Military Miniatres Warehouse and The Red Lancer arrive in 2-3 days. Several orders from Lucky Model have taken a couple weeks, with free shipping from Hong Kong to Massachusetts.

When I order from LL Bean, I can expect the item here in 2-3 days with free shipping.

To Squadron's credit, it would appear they have heard the complaints of slow delivery and taken steps to remidiate the problem. According to their website:

  • "Effective November 1, 2011, all USA orders will receive the industry standard level of rapid, reliable delivery (no more SmartPost – just good old FedEx ground service or equivalent) regardless of the size or weight of your package – there are just 3 rates based on your total order. As a result, your shipment will reach you quicker, via a single carrier for a cost that is competitive and representative of the value of service you will receive.
    $00.01 - $19.99 = $4.95 -- ($6.95 if the destination is a PO Box)
    $20.00 - $149.99 = $9.95 -- ($11.95 if the destination is a PO Box)
    $150.00 and up = Free

  • "Depending upon your location, your order will typically reach you in 1 to 4 shipping days (within the 48 contiguous states). It’s that simple and it’s that good! As of now you get our former ‘Premium’ processing at lower than premium rates – automatically – simple, fast and affordable. "

Yeah, its just Manny with all the problems with Squadron...he just doesn't like them...uh huh...

Sorry I couldn't get in on this deal.

Since they are in Texas I would have to pay sales tax which kinda killed the deal for me.

How so? 8.25% sales tax vs. free shipping and minimum 30% off? No comparison.

Manny - it's quite obvious (by your oft-repeated posts) you have something against Squadron for whatever reason. It also seems that you're in the minority with that problem...maybe it's time to lay off them a bit.

No, not really.  Like I mentioned before I still buy from them but primarily books and mags or things in their "new" category that doesn't require using their search engine.  I'm all about "equal time".  I think more folks were in agreement that their search engine is bad than those that thought it was good.  I honestly feel that they have let their customer service slip over the years...

Conversely, you seem to come back with praise for them every time someone levels any criiticism to them, so I guess I'll ask you to stop being a Squadron "fan-boy", as it were...

For some reason of late Hannant's orders have taken a while to get over here...not sure why. My last one got here last week more than 3 weeks after being "despatched".

The no tracking number situation certainly has the habit of raising one's blood pressure while things are "in transit". Ick!

I think Squadron's customer service has been getting worse every year for the past decade...I predict that in another 5-10 years they will no longer be a major player in the online modeling world...

Say what you want about Squadron, but not once since the days of the Xerox'd flyer have they messed up or failed to deliver my orders in a timely manner.  I think that I waited maybe 4 days for my Black Friday order to arrive.

On the other hand, Hannant's is leaving me to swing in the breeze over an order that was 'despatched' on 22 November.   Paid for airmail, got no tracking info and have contacted them about it.  Their response, a somewhat condescending "be patient"....  I had heard so many good things about them, and they do have an excellent variety of goods not available in the US, but this is leaving me with a rather less-than-eager mind to do business with them again.

Squadron, and to a lesser extent, Great Models, can have my money any day.

Well.... that is a little tricky. Usually, and I stress usually, if you are able to put an item in your cart, they have it in stock. However, when you order on-line, that order does not get entered directly into their computer. Instead, someone has to manually enter it. BUT if you call in an order, it does get entered directly. So, you might put something in your cart that was in stock when you were online, but then someone calls in an order and gets the last one before your order is filled.

    So...... it's a little tricky....

ok, it would be nice to see an "In Stock" or "Available for Order" type status per item.

From my experience they are the slowest when it comes from time order is placed until it arrives at my door...I'll rank my major suppliers on time in this order:

    1. Sprue Bro's

    2. Amazon (if they fill the order; not one of their suppliers)

    3. Great Models

    4. Squadron

They may take Sundays off, but not Saturday. Got an "order shipping" email a little while ago.

I'm guessing they might even have some extra work force this weekend to help catch up on those 2300 orders (2 were mine...hah!).

Yeah, Squadron was a little slow filling orders this week. Apparently they got around 2300 orders during their Black Friday sale. I got the confirmation e-mail from them last night. I wish it was faster, but considering that I got nearly $400 in modeling products for less than $160, I'll take the delay.
