I don't know if these still excist, I haven't used 'em myself but I've bought these recently,
50cents a piece because they have been laying in the store since who knows when.
The prices are still in BEF which haven't been used since the introduction of the euro (more then 10years ago),
which proves how old these are...

I normally don't really buy these, but some of these are really gonna save me a lot of hours
of cutting and putting together and this and that.
But here, maybe these are worth looking into.

With regards, Ninetalis.

Take a section of BMF (not foil and glue, the actual brand product Bare Metal Foil)put it over the canopy like you going to make the whole thing silver. Work it down as best you can and then very carefully with a new #11 blade cut along the framework, then peel where the frames go off. Then prime, put your colour down and your good. One thing i have found, is if you dont prepare the metal surface, you can pull the paint off it with masking tape. This makes it easier to peel the foil off when your done.

Ive just done that kit. waiting on decals. I found it was easier to use some Bare Metal Foil. Its quite a basic canopy so it doesnt take too much effort.

I've been hearing about this. how is it done?

thanks!

Hans von Hammer

Hey guys, I love Eduard mask sets, but I often find that they don't have a mask set for the certain model ...

*Sigh*..

Lost another one...

I love Eduard masks for tackling weird curves, which are usually found on windscreens and port windows. For the big rectangular chunks of most cage-style canopies, they're usually slightly out of size and I prefer the "many strips of tape" method. Same goes for Montex - only other masking I've used.

I've got the Profimodeller mask for the HK B-25...it's that black tape like Montex uses. We'll see how well it works. Much prefer the yellow kabuki tape.

Also - offerings are pretty limited as of now, but Maketar includes canopy masks with their paint mask sets. I've used them for a few custom paint masks and been very impressed, but not sure how well they're set up to handle doing custom canopy masks.

Techmod bundles paint masks with some of their decals.

Montex has masks that go both on the interior and exterior of the canopy.

I have not used any, but will do some time in the future.

Hey guys, I love Eduard mask sets, but I often find that they don't have a mask set for the certain model I'm currently building, like the Tamiya F4F-4 I'm starting.

Who else makes masks?  Links?  Thanks guys.
