To Build or not to Build, That is the Question!
Posted by Konigwolf13 on Sunday, December 25, 2011 8:06 PM

Well lets call this a poll of sorts (since I cant do a proper one on these forums).

I have a clear bench thanks to a recent move (all my WiP's are still packed) so do I

A: Unleash the mighty Trumpeter 1/16 Tiger II?

or

B: Unbox and plod on with my current builds?

Really conflicted on this one. Been waiting big time for this move so I can start the big kit, but at the same time feeling guilty about not finishing my WIP's first.

Konigwolf13 - i hear you.  I've recently moved (been in the new place for a week now).

I'm facing the same dilemma...

Unfortunately, my modelling room is not yet set up, in fact, all unpacked boxes are still in there.

I'm going to use this as an opportunity to finish my three wips.

I'm in the P-47 GB, but think i'll delay that start until my wips are finished.

I say you start the Tiger II - perhaps we can live vicariously through each other?  I finish wips, you start a new project?

I'm tempted to just shelf everything and start my 1/48 Tamiya P-47, but i've been delaying these others for a while.  Fingers crossed I'll get two done before the new year.

As much of a hypocrite this statement makes me, finish the old ones. Use them as your reward to start the Trumpy King tiger. Then you will grind out all the old ones, and then the King Tiger will be that much sweeter to build.

I seriously doubt the unfinished kits would have their feelings hurt ..... I'd go with the biggie. Wink

Good advice, but I have no idea how complicated your in-progress are.

Make it 3 for the Tiger.........   I say,       new place, celebrate with a new kit

Just my opinion

Enjoy the ride!

Chose the one that inspires you to build and gives you momentum to continue building.

We've all faced this predicament and beginning the new Tiger II may get the ball rolling again.

I am in the process of cleaning my shop.   I did manage to get all of my stash onto existing shelves by proper packing in to eliminate gaps.  But I realised much of the lack of storage space was overflow from my shelves of uncompleted kits. I was astonished at how many unfinished projects I have!  Am making a resolution to either finish or trash some of the kits on those shelves before I open any new kits.

Thankyou all for your input. After some thought I have decided to do both.

I will build two kits at a time. Unbox an unfinished kit out and take that as my main project and use the King Tiger as a secondary while I'm waiting for glue/paint to dry etc. I figure I should be able to get all my current started kits finished and still have the joy and as Rob put it, inspiration of working on the big armour at the same time.

Again thanks for the input and helping decide my conundrum. Beer

I am faceing a move later in 2012. My aim for the year is to get as many Dio's finished as i can and not start any new builds. Once i have moved and have my own model room, the plan is to finsh off anything thats not done and do any repairs before i start any new builds.

Well, thats the plan anyway. So with that in mind, i would go for option B. Clear the bench of current builds first.

Oh to have my own man cave.... Now I share a large sunroom with SWMBO as both study/workbench and her scrap/study/craft room, which is much better than our last place where my study/bench was part of the lounge decor.

I have a dream, a dream of a mancave.
