I am in Christchurch, New Zealand where we have an additional Insurance cover which is part of our Governments requirements. They have set up a government controlled "Company" known as the Earthquake Commission which covers damage from earthquakes, acts of war and natural disasters. everyone who has home and contents insurance pays an additional premium (4%) to provide this cover. No insurance, no cover!

I have insurance so I am covered. We may pay higher taxes but ?? When you lose something which you spent so much time on you at least get a monetry hand up.

Are you talking regular home owners insurance?

I think that is a pretty good estimate.  I sure wouldn't argue it.  Not familiar with that specific ship, but a three masted ship is certainly at least that kind of time.

Building time??
Posted by 45mike on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 5:13 PM

I have just had a Mamoli Puritan model destroyed when its display table fell on it during a recent earthquake.

I wish to determine an approximate build time so that I can proceed with an insurance claim to replace the model. I have located a kit I can buy but need to claim for labour involved in building. Can anyone help?

I took approximately 3.5 years to complete to museum quaility from a brilliant kit but this was part time!!

My local model supplier guessed  2 - 300 hours
