Stik, If you pick that up, please give us an in box parts review.  My youngest son, the "smart" one, ordered one for me as a Christmas present.  And the suspense is killing me.  I would like to see your take on the kit.  You can even gloat a little bit.  Rick

Tomorrow if I am not too hungover I will attempt to hit the shop. My son wants a to get a Gundam kit and since this beast is now out, I don't want to be left out in the cold empty handed...Whistling If I get it tomorrow, I will gladly post a look tomorrow evening...

Oh no!  You mean it isn't a 100% shrunken down version of the real thing!?  Well Hell into the trash it goes........Crying

I didn't need a kit review to tell me I want one.  And for that price I'm not feeling any buyers remorse.

Ok... Broke down and bought it on Ebay, 33.99 w/shipping..

Squeaked in just under my limit of 35.00 for multi-engine, 1/48 scale... Little p/o'd about the shipping, but I guess that's the deal these days, since my LHS can't get it faster..

Like I said, it's under my 35.00 limit for multi-engine model aircraft... BARELY  Granted, the Monogram B-25's a comparable kit and retails for about 18.00, but well..  When the only way to get it is through the internet, ya gotta get off the porch if ya wanna run with the big dogs. lol...

If it woulda cost much more, the sum betcher better well fly..

Wow, that one looks GREAT!
I just can't wait till i get to the US this summer to pick it up somewhere! (since you can't buy monograms outside of the US of A, dam..bastar.. Oops

Come to think of it, are the PBY, kingfisher and the B-29 easy to find in the local hobby shops or toy stores?

Regards Ninetalis.

Revell Germany is supposed to issue this kit as well some time in the immediate future. You should be able to pick it up in Europe before your summer trip here.

I wanted to buy it from my LHS but they couldn`t give me a date that they were getting them in but they certainly knew what they wanted for `em....36 bucks!!  Figured I`d go with Omnimodels...faster and a wee less expensive.

I'm sorry to say but, Definitly NOT!
The last kit they reissued here was the Do 335, the first time in what, 40 years?
They never even issued the Black Widow as revell germany, as well as the kingfisher, B-26, su-25, He 111 (1/48) or the B-29. but they seem to find it a lot of fun to reissue those in US over and over again... I'm not kidding...
They don't do that, otherwise I would of had em by now, as well as the B-25 and A-26,
I ordered them over from the US because you can't get them over here.

So anyway, reasking my question Stick out tongue
are they easy to come by?

Thought it WAS a Revell Germany kit... But upon looking at their catalog and re-thinking the price, I figured out that it wasn't..

Anyway, a number of Revell Germany kits are ex-Monogram kits.. The F-104, Do 17Z (1/72), Do 335, F8F Bearcat (1/72), F-4C/D, F9F Panther, and Huey Hog were some I spotted in their catalog...

You need a buddy in the US that'll ship 'em for ya..

No, the PV-1 Ventura is a Brand new design, the only manufacturer that had the PV-1 in 1/48 was Fonderie Miniature, wich has great planes in their catalog but the kits are a straight trip to hell I've heard...

Yes indeed, there are a few, but not so many, and i only build in 1/48 and the only kits they release here are usually found with other manufacturers (Phanter = trumpeter, DO 335 = Tamiya,...)
Yes they are more expensive, but for that extra 10 bucks you get a way better fitting model without raised panel lines and much more detail....

I have a girlfriend with a father that works for the EU and goes a lot to the States, and he used to build airplanes so he takes one with him whenever he can...

Ahhh, I see.. You're one of them...

No, I like to make old kits to, more time to work on them for less cash,
but I like an easy build from time to time to, don't ever think about me in black and white,
I'm as grey as somebody can be...

Otherwise i wouldn't have bought that DO 335 from revell right?
The tamiya raiden? how old is that one?
Or the walrus from SMER? cheapest kit ever, and one of my favorites that I've made!

I just like to make a lot of kits, but I was just trying to prove my point,
they give us models that we can buy allready instead of those that you can't find around here.

Regards Ninetalis.

I picked up that Betty kit a few years ago on Ebay for 22 bucks!  It`s a REALLY NICE kit...not worth $70.00 though...just my opinion. It`s still a WIP...lost interest but have to finish it up for a GB soon.

Looks like it`s gonna be a decent kit judging by the build on Hyperscale.  One of the very few comments by the builder was  that it`s "a well engineered kit"....mine should be here tomorrow, waiting for me to come home from work.....Big Smile

Got my son's Christmas gift via UPS today. Take a peek.

Hey Vance, from Revell to You!

I've tried to show you the overall sprues, and a detail shot of a few parts.

Nice 21 page instruction booklet.  Well illustrated.  I don't want to fuel any arguments, but gazing at the parts trees and seeing the build review a few posts up looks like Revell has hit a homerun here.  Very nice tooling of a new subject in 1/48.  I hope that Revell/Monogram is teeing up to make another big impact in the hobby.  If they can introduce kits of this quality at this price there will be a great demand for their work.  Rick
