anyone got any advice on what colour to use to paint the tracks in, im building trumpeters might leopold kit and the famous br 52. ideally id like to know what coloursto use in tamiya acrylics or even a few citadel colours ? ive got a few of the citadel colours in the browns mainly that they do ? im really stuck as most of the colours ive tried on scrap have tended to be a bit glossy

i would start with metallic  gray, wash with black and dark rust. if the tracks are used chrome silver on the top og the rail, if not leave it black washed. at /72 i usually build my own. i have a miter saw for cutting basswood to ties length. unfortunately, germans did not spike theit track like americans did so, in order scratchbuild you have to make a billion rail to tie clips.

for the plastic ties i would paint dark  brown and wash with dark grays. ballast could be medium or light gray depending on how much contrats you want.

just some thoughts.

scrratchbuild rails at 1/72

I have one painted 1/144 scale tracks so my methode might not give the desired effect. But what I do is paint a base coat of Citadel Scorched Brown, the dry brush with Boltgun.
