JOE RIX

I didn't think it would be much of an issue seeing as we're all model builders an thus possess a limitless supply of patience. Right?

JOE RIX

FYI - You may experience even longer deliveries from GB. My brother just stopped by their warehouse to pick up my order and they are backlogged with the sale up to 2-3 weeks on orders. I hope it doesn't take your orders that long just be aware how stacked up they are.

                                                                   Joe

I ordered on-line March 14th, order didn't ship till Monday morning March 19th. Received by March 21st.

I don't doubt the backlog is a lot worse now that word got around about the sale.

I loved Great Model website, especially when you wanted to see reviews of a certain kit. I like Sprue Brothers specials when thye have them and sale prices and would like to see them improve their website and also add kit reviews to it.

I've been a happy and loyal customer of Great Models for several years and am sorry to see them go.  Recently I've started purchasing from Sprue Brother as well, so I'm hoping this will be a win-win situation for all customers.

One a side note I saw the 40% sale at GM on Thurs and was ecstatic to see Friulmodel tracks on the list!!   $23.95 on sale when they usually go for $39-$46 (at different sites)....NIIICE!!

I wonder if Spruebrothers will continue to restock the civilian stuff like cars and airliners.  I know Spruebrothers stock of few airliners but no cars.  Great Models seemed to always have a good selection of those subjects.

It's always sasy/potentially bad when another modeling outlet goes under, because that is that much less competition for the rest of them, and therefore that much less incentive to keep their prices reasonable and their customer service high.

We all know what monopolies can be like ... witness the phone company conglomerations and the airlines ...

Well, for those of you who might be interested, Great Models is having a 40% off sale for most of their inventory. It will end at some undisclosed time when whatever is left is transferred to SprueBros...

Yep, and now I've got one of these incoming...

Great, just great.   One shop that doesn't accept AmEx buys one of the last ones that does...

I'm not an AmEx user Dre, but make sure to let them know that you are. If they get enough feedback, that may change. Sprue Bros is one of the very few spots I order from online so it really doesn't affect me (yet?), but at the same time I hate to see a competitor get swallowed up.

I live in Washington as well, and not on the coast, and it's never taken Sprue Brothers more than three days to get me my orders. Good prices too.

Ditto

I live in Austin. 3.5 hours by car from Squadron. Sprue Bros. pretty reliably reaches me in 2-3 days. Great Models 3-4. Squadron has taken as long as 12 and is regularly beaten by Ultracast (Canada) and Hannants (UK).

That's one of the things I like about SB...they don't screw around with getting your order assembled and out the door. I once received a shipping notice - with tracking number - eight minutes after placing an order. I also appreciate invoices not printed out on a dot matrix...

I've never had a problem with Squadron's search engine but that may be because I always knew what I was looking for anytime I went there.  I agree their prices are a bit high compared to other stores.  I go there once in a while but do the bulk of my online shopping with Spruebrothers and ebay.

I never understood eveybody's love affair with Squadron, their search engine sucks, and their prices are always higher then then just about anybody.I like flipping thru their flyer but I can't remember the last time I bought anything from them.

No love affair here. I agree with you. Ever since I found Sprue Bros, I don't order from anywhere else.

Though Hannants is my online shop of first choice, i have brought from Sprue Brothers a few times and have had great service. I have never checked out the Great Models site, so i am not sure what the difference was. Whether it was just the price or the range of products. But it is sad to see another company go down, less compation is not good for the customers.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
