I would think that if the model in question DID NOT win AND you made IMPROVEMENTS to it, you should be fine.  If it won something-anything, put it in a display case.

Yeah that seems to be the concensous. Time to get to work on it then.

Thanks everyone. I think i'm gonna take it this one last time after I fix things and add some weathering. Now I am taking other models as well. I'm taking (all 1/48) MQ-1 Predator, O-2 Skymaster, and a F-14A Tomcat. I was hoping to have a F-16 Tx ANG finished but I haven't even started it.

Like I said the Osprey never won and it's only been to one show. Oh here's a pic of it at the show with two of the others in the catagory. The third can't be seen cause it's behind the sign.

1. You didn't win at the show last year

2. You continued to work on it

Therefore, barring a specific show rule disallowing a model from entering more than once, it's fair game. Your best bet is to contact the person in charge and ask.

As to regional and national winners being shown at local shows, you can feel free to do so unless the sponsors disallow that. Since most IPMS regionals and the IPMS use 1-2-3 judging, you might win as much because other entries were really poor rather than your entry was really good. The three best (or least bad) get awards in every class, and if you're the only entry, you get first.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

i agree with manny, but my two cents is it probably depends on who is hosting the show,we have a show up here once a year called "bring out the good stuff" while most of the models entered are "first timers for that show "  several have been elsewhere, and won. me personally i try to not enter the same model twice at the same show , i.e. this year then again next. , whats the worst that could happen though, ya learn something about your model or have some kid with dad in tow become inspired to be the next Shep Paine. have fun

we're modelers it's what we do

Well, I think there are two ways to answer this.  One is to go strictly by the rules, which according to most IPMS chapters only disqualify "winning" builds...

The other is from a philosophical point of view...the fact that you are making significant "changes" to improve it has me leaning to an answer of re-enter it if you feel the changes will make it more competitive this go-round...

So that means that I should keep bringing a build back year after year until it wins an award and is no longer eligible?

I'm (obviously) of the camp that believes once it's been, it gets retired. That being said, I go to 4 shows a year, so each build goes to each show - once. Would be a little too hard to crank out new builds in the week between the 2 spring shows, for example. Heh.

Don't know about twice at a show - haven't been to enough to see repeats I guess - BUT I will say I neglected to cart my Spitfire and Panzer III down to San Antonio in February because I'd entered them in Austin in September (and the P-III took 3rd). Stupid. I'd venture at least a quarter of the entries had also been entered at the Austin show. Don't see entering twice in the same show as an issue at all if it didn't win the first time around.

Yeah that seems to be what everyone else is telling me.

Well it didn't win any awards because of the other entries were far better (Stupid helicopters).

usually the rules are that if the models has won something at a show it is not qualified.  But the club  or show rules will also specify what level of "show" it had to gotten the award.  It may be that if it won at a regional it will be OK but not if it were a national.

Showing a model twice in a show

I wanted you guys opinion. Has anyone shown (Entered) a model twice at a show. What I mean is I want to enter my Osprey again this year at our model show in April. I entered it last year at the same show. I'm gonna fix a few things and add some other stuff to it. I just wanted to know if anyone else has done that and is cool to enter it again?
