Looking for some Canadian online hobby shops
Posted by Stuart06 on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 8:44 AM

I am looking for a specific armor kit and it seems that all my local hobby shops do not have stock anymore of this kit.  I have never ordered a kit online but figure that  I will this time.

Living in Canada, can you suggest a good online hobby retailers that are based in Canada.  The reason is when factoring the shipping and customs from the U.S. it usually is cheaper to stay within Canada.  Also, there is a delay with getting things over the border.  Most U.S. online retailer wiil not ship paints, adhesives or any other liquid chemically based products.

I figure if I stay in Canada all that would be erased as it is going within one country.

Not on our side of the border, but I have had good luck / good prices from Sprue Brothers on non-chemical products. Inexpensive shipping & no issues with taxes/duties at the border on orders totaling as much as $60/70 at a time.

I've bought in person from Elm City Hobbies in Fredericton NB. Good guy, small but well-stocked shop & they do online as well: www.elmcityhobbies.com

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Ultracast is up there. They have some pretty good aftermarket. There's a list on their website of numerous hobby shops in Canada.

I've used these guys: Great Hobbies http://www.greathobbies.com/

I've only used them for RC stuff but they've been good. I'm lucky enough to have one in town so I can order the item and pick it up at the store. The phone customer service has been good.

Hmmm never heard of them or seen them.  Drive by there once in awhile.  They don't  have any hours posted.

Might have to try and slide by there sometime.  Online selection seems limited.

I was attracted mostly by the photo-etch and imported armor books.

Ultracast is a top manufacture of resin figures. Their sculpts are a joy to paint and the detail is second to none.

For Canadain subjects they are the best source of resin figures. They carry AM brass accessories as well. Check them out, you will not be disappointed.
