Well said!Yes

Indeed one of the proudest actions undertaken by our military.

Why was the attack successful after many failures?

Innovative tactics executed by small groups of soldiers with predetermined objectives.

'Creeping barrage' artillery support

Both of which practiced and developed in Canada for the specific attack.

Every soldier memorized their objective on a scale model and practiced the action on a full size campaign replica. The 'Small unit' tactics and training have been adopted and practiced in all significant armies sense the battle of Vimy Ridge.

Today marks the anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.  It marked the first time all Canadian divisions were under our own command and not scattered under British command.

It was also significant as the Canadians took the ridge after previous failed attempts by other nations.

Lest we forget.
