DOOGS, Hey man ,I am sorry about the boy.My time has been spent dealing with the pollen and mold here in NEW BRAUNFELS.That and the ticker decided to act up and the meds dry out already dry eyes and then the sneezing starts.I do value my bench time, although I spend about ten hours a day there for my client,s stuff. The 1/96 stuff seems never to end. That,s good, but Oh boy do I value the weekends(when I build my stuff)You take care and as I use my NEBULIZER I will think of you and the family. He's doing better, Jim, thanks for asking! Home from the hospital last Wednesday, off the albuterol yesterday, seems his usual self at the moment. Though he and his sister have both been sleeping poorly, making for some very frustrating mornings. I fully plan to get them back when they're teenagers.

Hope your son is doing ok Doogs.

My allergies are bad at the begining of spring. They haven't been bad as of late thankfully. Although as soon as it rains they go haywire.

Im finding it harder and harder to get bench time atm. Ive reached "terminal modelocity" for my bench. ie, more models on the go than bench space. Ive got 3 kits on the bench, one on the small book case next to the bench, and another on the large case next to that. Ive also got another 4 in various stages of construction in their boxes under the bench.

However, its lighting that causes me issues. I have to go outside to paint, and i have to leave the kit outside for a bit to let the fumes blow away. (rattle cans) and at this time of year i get about 10 minutes of half light when i get home from work.

DoogsATX

Morning for me is basically a blur of alarm clocks and whining kids until the coffee kicks in. Not a morning person. Never have been, even when I'd get up at 6 to go mountain biking before work (DEFINITELY pre-kids).

I can stay up til 2, wake up at 6:45 with no problems. But if I have to wake up at 5:45 and go to bed at 11, it's that waking up at 5:45 part that registers.

No bench time last night, either. Allergies have kick our son's but this year, to the point where my wife took him to the ER last night since he was breathing weird. Some kind of bronchial virus that triggered the equivalent of an asthma attack. At the hospital right now, keeping the little dude company.

How's your little boy doing?

I don't have allergies that are bad but the five female plants I have growing on top of the 10 different pepper plants and all the others is going to keep me real busy in a couple of months. I need to build something soon if I want to get in any modeling before fall.

I`m gonna have one of those nights tonight. I was up in my bucket truck today in Atlantic City with the wind blasting in my face...eyes were watering to the point I couldn`t see...now they`re all dried out...gotta keep putting drops in `em to see straight. My wife is allergic to all but three types of pollen. She spends alot of time in bed this time of year with sinus headaches...thank God I don`t have any allergies!

Doogs,

I feel you right now! I have worked 96 out of the last 120 hours! (Thur-Monday!) most of the day on Saturday, the one day I had off was spent at the kids swim meet! I am looking forward to some down time to get cracking on my P-47s!, not to mention finishing up my Japanese AC for the Pearl Harbor GB!

Even though, as we speak I am getting ready to go into to work for 2-3 more hours OT, I can't complain.....I am glad MY allergies have subsided and I have a job that lets me keep up with add.....ERRRR hobby!

P.S. I keep my hobby room door closed to fight off the depression of seeing unfinished kits!

Sorry to hear that Doogs, I send along my very best you all, few things worse than a sick child.  My middle son had RSV when he was younger and had to do the nebulizer with Albuterol.  That sure opens up the pathways, I will use it if I have bronchial issues, speedy recovery for the little guy.

I've been grabbing some bench time in the mornings, before I have to get ready for work.  I'm waking up about a half hour before the alarm clock is set, so I'll throw on sweats and go sit at the bench.  It's a good time for me, because now that we're coming into warmer weather and extended daylight, I want to be outside in the late afternoon and evenings.

This seems to be a particularly bad allergy season for myself and others that I know. It's so early too, but things are just starting to bloom over here and I'm stuffy every morning.

If I am lucky to have a few hours at night it is completely therapeutic. I can let all the problems of the day melt away and listen to MLB or NHL and get lost in the build. If I don't, I get what I like to call "builders remorse." The next day I think about what I could have completed.

Definately! Bench time is all important, especially after a sucky day in the "real world" or some other less than pleasant event. It clears the mind to be able to concentrate on a certain task at the bench and recharges my battery.

That and not having coffee really influences my days in the negative senseSmile

I find that my bench time is a great escape from thinking about anything. Nothing better than sitting and working away while listening to the Cards game in the background.

Yeah well, thank goodness the Cubs are already done by the time I hit the bench at night (unless they're on the left coastHmm) there is NOTHING relaxing about listening to those losers...... or building a B-36 Big Smile

My problems are specifically with my location of the workbench... but there are some others. Having to stand in order to work can get tiring, but when summer/ early fall gets into high gear, my hay-fever kicks on (atchoo! Wait, where did that minuscule part go...?!Super Angry)

The other is that, if it's not weekend I don't get to it until late in the evening, and since it's in the garage little flying things come and interrupt my work... (painting some fine detail and zip! tiny gnat in my ear!) Even with the door closed, moths seem to have a fatal attraction to the bench, even when the lights are off, have you ever come back after a painting session and found one of the buggers in your paint? I do cover it up now, but some times they find a way in anyway.Indifferent

Especially when i'm on the computer, telling myself (go to the bench... get something done...) then I realize it's too late. I really hate days when I go to the bench, all psyched up, and then don't feel like doing anything.Sleep

Not really.  Bench time for me is therapeutic, as it is for all of you, but if something goes wrong at the bench, I don't let it bother me.  After all, what would the therapy be, for your therapy, if it doesn't work?

Well, OK, beer, but, you get my point.

Bench time's therapeutic for me as well - that's just the thing. NOT getting that time in has a powerfully negative effect on me. I'd rather accidentally glue my fingers to the wings (not all that likely given my lack of using large amounts of CA, but still) than miss bench time altogether. Whenever I do, it never ends well!

Doogs, that blows.   Nothing like having the time, a plan and the desire to get something done and then not being able to do so because of something like allergies.

A truism to be certain Doogs. It may be universal and though my wife doesn't always get it  then I remind her I could always go out the bar instead. That usually does the trick!

I know what you mean Doogs, as I've been getting older I have more and more problems with allergies. Although as the weather warms I want to take the top off the car and let the pollen laden air beat me in the face doesn't help. Dead

Though I wish I had a problem about bench deprevation though. For the last six months or so I come home from work, eat something, take a nap, then fire up the computer and slaugher monsters. I keep telling myself I'll get something built over the weekend and then end up napping, reading and generally screwing around. I hope this is just a phase and I'll get back into modeling soon. Just can't work up much interest here lately... Sleep

Yeah. I have a different problem. After I work a 24 hour shift on the ambulance, there's a lot of times that the last thing I wanna do is work at the bench.  Especially after a really busy night (which has been every night as of late). I just wanna go to bed so that I'm not grumpy. Or make mistakes like gluing myself to the kit.
