good 1/48 Italian Fighter planes?
Posted by PaperPanzer on Friday, June 1, 2012 2:46 PM

I wanted to post this for a while now, so I'll get to the point...

I have built a Hasegawa 1/72 Fologore about two years ago, and I have decided to tackle those pretty aircraft again. Hasegawa has some more kits, as well as smer, what are you opinions and advice on these kits?

Hasegawa- 1/48

- Fologore?

-Tauro?

-Fiat G55?

-Saetta?

Smer-

- Fiat G55?

If there are any other Italian monoplane fighters (radial or V engine okay) let me know what they are and how good of a kit it is?

-Thanks! Cool

Well I picked up the Special Hobby 1/48th Fiat G.55 Centauro earlier this year. Nicely detailed but like most limited run kits a bit of a bear to build. But still gee whiz what a beautiful fighter. Heart

Thanks Gamera! I have looked online for a Fiat G.56 as well, and nothing has turned up so far.

Well, there's the Macchi C.205 Veltro. I believe Hasegawa makes a kit.

Classic Airframes makes a Reggiane Re.2005 Sagittario...

Of course, my rec would be to go to 1/32 and play with the Pacific Coast Models kits. Built their Fiat G.55 earlier this year, and it drove me to pick up their Re.2005 and G.55S (the one with the torpedo). Already had a C.205 and Spit XIV of theirs in the stash. But seriously, the most fun I've had with a kit in some time.
