So much for building out of the stash.

The way i see it, if everyone here just built from their stash, the industry would die.  Although most models seem to be made overseas, we still have the packers, shippers, delivery people, box makers, store owners, marketing directors, and fsm publishers that would suffer.  You, sir, did not fail in your resolution, you have helped hundreds of families keep food on the table and are doing your patriotic duty to help this country onto the path of economic recovery.   P.s., lemme know if this line helps, I might use it with the mrs. Next time i splurge.

Shhh don't tell the wife............Wink

Hard to pass up buying kits, considering that kits don't seem to be in production as long as in previous decades.

I guess the reason I fall down on my resolution to only build what is in my stash is that few mfgs re-issue kits, and I think (probably erroneously) that in the future I will want the kit and the only way to get it then is to pay ridiculous price to some collector.

If you put them in the stash, before you build them....then you are still building out of the stash....non-fail!

You made it six months....not bad!

What I've started to do is a zero sum gain method. I have a large stash, but as most here can attest to, there are so many new kits that it is hard to resist temptation not to buy them. So basically, if I decide to buy a kit, I sell one or two on eBay or a buy/sell/trade forum to keep the stash from expanding any more.

Last week when Dragon USA had that 50% off sale, I picked up the 1/48 Bronco Staghound. To make up for that purchase, I brought four of my 1/72 scale armor kits to my local club meeting and sold them to one of the guys who was looking for those kits.

I am confused.  Please explain what "sell from my stash" means.

AFAIC, building a stash is like building an art collection or a stamp collection.  It makes me happy to see all the kits I love.

My brother-in-law has about 5,000 classical music CDs, he tells me that "simply looking at his CD collection" makes hime happy. A friend has about 800 movie DVDs, he says the same thing.

I'll stop buying kits when I have 100 kits in my stash Big Smile

And finding certain models is like other Holy Grails in other collecting circles...And, no, you won't stop at 100.  Or 200...
