A great find at library
Posted by Chrisk-k on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 11:35 PM

My 1st son is doing community services at a county library.  I usually drop him off and picks him up later. Today, I stayed there to see if they had some books on Vietnam air combat.  They had zero.

Disappointed, I started to browse the shelves to kill time.  And I found a whole bunch of past issues of Fine Scale Modeler.  Because I got back to modeling last year after a long hiatus, I have a lot to catch up in terms of techniques.  I'm a subscriber now but always wondered about all the tips and great models published in past issues.  I guess I'll spend a considerable amount of time at the library in this summer Smile

In this day of online resources, indeed many people overlook their local library. I have found many good books on subjects I am building. I am particularly pleased at several books I found there on aircraft cockpits.

My library has a book sale periodically to get rid of old or damaged stuff.  For a buck or two (forget which) I just picked up a great book- a photo essay by a passenger on the Titanic.  He did not have the time, fortunately for the whole trip, so only sailed on it from Britain to France to Ireland.  But he really photographed a lot of the ship details that modelers need!
