I'm trying to find some more kits to start building up a stash and was wondering if anyone knew of some good deals on kits online or at stores.
Check out the super special section at Sprue bros.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Best advice I can give for building up a stash, is going to the contests. As far as I know, they all have vendor rooms/area.....many great deals to be had! There does always seem to be that one guy though, that refuses to budge on his retail prices.....he doesn't sell much!
I recently bought a Dragon PzKpfw Mk IIIn from Dragon USA whilst it was on special and I was tempted to buy many more but the "secret" stash is starting to become not so secret so I settled on one. Some really good prices there. Miraculously, with me being in Australia, it arrived about a week later instead of the predicted three to four weeks. Plus they only charged postage cost so definately two thumbs up from me.
And as Fermis said, if you go to a club meeting there are usually some really good deals there to be had. I haven't been able to leave a meeting empty handed so far and that is not because I was taking one of my models home.

If you're looking for tank kits, there is a guy who just posted a great sale list with most kits for $20 (Marco R.) http://www.network54.com/Forum/47214/
Get on the mailing list of the internet stores you deal with. When they have sales or special deals you'll be alerted to them.

I find a lot of great deals at the vendor tables during contests/shows. Picked up an AMT 1/25 GT500 Mustang for $3, a Monogram F-101 for $7, and a Monogram 1/48 F9F for $5 during the last one.

Thanks for the suggestions, I actually managed to get some great deals from a vendor at a flea market today.
Depending on what you're looking for, eBay can still be a great place to acquire kits at great prices.

Using Ebay, I went from a ten-kit stash to over 200 in a year or so, and over 400 (not counting figures, figure-sets, and diorama accessories) in three...
mississippivol I find a lot of great deals at the vendor tables during contests/shows. Glenn

Check out local auctions, I scored several hundred kits at two auctions from a hobby shop that closed ten or so years ago and was kept in storage. Final price per kit was about $5 to $6 per kit, plus was able to pick up some old Verlinden kits, tons of after market sets and a lot of tools/supplies.
You can "usually" find a good deal on ebay. The key is to have patience and check at least once a day. Sooner or later your item will be a "buy it now" at a reasonable price or an auction that for whatever reason you are the only one bidding on it.
Ebay does have a search function that will send you a message when an item is newly listed. The problem I've with this is the item may already be gone by the time you get the message.
Do you have a Hobby Lobby close by? If you want to actually fondle the box(es) see the items before buying, stop by the store with their 40% off coupon in hand. Forty per cent off is not too shabby of a deal especially if you can find something on the shelves that interest you.
