Good point.

Texgunner, what can you tell me about the file format; is it pdf? When you load this into your computer can you identify each magazine? You see the best software only works when it works with your current operating system. Tomorrow when you install that great new system you will find that your software is no longer compatible. So if you cannot identify a specific file you are out-of-luck!

I received my copy last week and finally got around to playing with it yesterday.  I enjoyed it and am glad I bought it.  It does take a bit of playing around to get the feel of it.  They do say in the instructions that some older photos have "noticeable dot patterns" and that issues after mid-2004 are reproduced from digital originals while older ones are scanned from paper copies.  A good investment in my eyes though.

Unfortunately i couldn't access the vid posted by the FSM staff (some error saying it's not supported or something - my computer problem, not FSMs), so it's good to see what they look like.

I'll be ordering it this week after seeing those screen shots.

You can find the answer to my question at the ARC forum. Midway Sailor posted several screen shots of the DVD. I wish the FSM editorial staff will do the same at this website.

The following question is for all the 25 years DVD owners:

When I view a FSM review on this FSM website, I can get a pretty good quality picture by clicking the picture on the article. For example:

Can I expect similar quality from the DVD on my PC monitor screen? The pictures in the preview video is somewhat grainy.

I too have this on my "watch list" but am waiting for a few user reviews. Not for the quality of the pictures, which looks to be top notch, but for the Search function. If THAT doesn't work, or returns reams of useless hits, or it takes you forever to find what you're looking for *pointed glance at bright yellow search box on righthand side of computer screen*, then I am going to be reluctant to fork over a hundred bucks for another cat toy.

If, on the other hand, people report that they are able to find what they want, when they want it, with a minimum of fuss and bother, then after the first of the year sometime, FSM can expect a check from yours truly.

I may probably eventually buy this if the pictures are magazine quality. I have many downloaded FSM articles that I paid $5 each for. I stopped doing it because the picture quality was so poor, grainy and washed-out in color. I do not understand that because there are quite a few high quality modeling DVD on the market from other soruces.

I just hope that they do a better job with the 25-years collection DVD.

I asked about the DVD quality a while back and never got an answer. Most surprisingly, FSM editorial staff did not respond, and there was no preview video or picture at this website either. That makes me suspicious...............hmm!

Okay....I give.  You're right at 50 cents a copy it is a good deal.  You're comments have changed my mind and YES I will purchase this after Christmas.  "Thanks" for getting me to see the "light".  Now, you all go and have a Merry Christmas you old goats...hahahahaha....yeah...I'm one too.

I bought it and I found the price quite reasonable I mean $100 for 200 issues of the magazine thats like .50 cents per issue, seems like a pretty good deal to me.

$100 is pretty much inline with other magazines on DVD. You have to consider FSM is pretty much a niche market. It will mainly be purchased by individuals. Very few "educational" institutions will buy this when compared to something like National Geographic, Time, Sports Illustrated, etc.

Unfortunately you also have to consider the instances where groups of people share the cost and then "share" the DVD's! I just don't believe it's not already being talked about.
