After-market metal landing gear
Posted by Cadet Chuck on Thursday, August 9, 2012 12:38 AM

I have purchased, several times, the after-market white metal landing gear kits, and frankly, I question the value of them.  The last set I purchased did not fit nearly as well as the plastic components supplied with the kit.  I would be interested in any opinons as to why they might be neccessary or advisable to to replace the kit plastic parts.

There was a whole tread about this subject in the aircraft forum about three weeks ago. You might want to look it up...

I would only get them as a replacement, if the kit supplied gear was lost or broken.

Some folks like to polish the oleo area, which they find easier than getting a shiny metal appearance with paint.  Personally I find there are good enough silver or Alclad paints to do this and it is a lot cheaper than buying metal gear.
