There was another one, Turning points at war about the Raid on Dieppe.

Try to catch that one too, watched that one last night.  They mentioned quite a few times the Pourville objective

Yep, saw that on Sunday night, watched again last night. Very well done, and good to know - after all these years - that it wasn't just a test-run, or something to keep the Russians happy. An Enigma capture at that point would have been an intelligence coup...

My father was with the South Saskatchewan at Pourville, on the Dieppe Raid.  He got off the beach unwounded, earning a medal while he was there. So I've got to see that show. I hope to catch later.

I missed that but the PVR has been set for this afternoons airing.

The only one I'd seen before was the CBC production a few years back.

Thanks for the info!

Did anyone watch Dieppe Uncovered on the History channel tonight? It was a brilliant documentary on the real reason for the landing at Dieppe. It's hard to believe it took 70 years to uncover the reason for the failed attempt. I was especially touched at the end when the one of the Veterans finally realized that his friends had died for a cause after believing they all died for no reason for so many years.

Here is the link to the next showtimes for this week: www.history.ca/.../titledetails.aspx

Amen!Toast To those gallant Canadian and British soldiers! Lord Lovat took along 50 of Darby's Rangers to fight with his Commandos at Dieppe to have those men become the first US ground troops in action in the ETO.

70th anniversary of Dieppe Raid

Today is the 70th anniversary of the ill fated raid. Named Operation Jubilee it was mostly a Canadian operation but with US and British forces involved too.

While the battle was a loss the lessons learned helped make d-day a success.

The losses devastated several Canadian units and even towns.

Lest we forget.
