Score from closed stores
Posted by MSgtMJ62 on Sunday, September 2, 2012 12:00 PM

The wife works at a Mall in the Management office and most of the stores have closed and moved out leaving tons of stuff they didn't want, she got permission from the Mall owners to scrounge in some of these store spaces.  So we went in and I found a box of those clear plexiglass shelves/trays they hook to the walls for displays of various sizes.  And two 48" L x 7"W plexiglass shelves, these I will mount on the wall in my hobby room and the smaller trays will be great for separating the paint bottles.

Great score. Look for some glass counters. Some places will sell them to you cheap. They are great for storing your models. I did that quite a while back(70s) but a subsequent move meant leaving them behind. The guy said "You unbolt them from the floor and get them out of here and they are yours for $10 each". I took 2 - 6ft. units. Only problem is that they are very heavy.

I keep hitting "escape", but I'm still here.

Waiting on the word from the wife on getting clearance from the owners again to go back in on another scrounge shopping spree.   I know there are tons of good desks, some about 6 - 8' long.  And she says she knows of lots of shelving that would be great for me.  Man, I love her more and more with every truck load of free stuff I can get and use! lol

Got the new plexi-glass shelves mounted on the walls around my hobby desk finally. Came out pretty nice.

Hey, nice score. And I like the clear plexi for modelling uses, keeps the area brighter to work in.

Great Score! Looks real nice in workshop.  I scored 2 huge boxes of square plexiglass pieces, that still have the protective plastic on them.  I have over 50 pieces,  which have been useful in my other hobby, scroll saw(ing)
