Dogfight 1942
Posted by Ninetalis on Thursday, September 13, 2012 3:53 PM

Hey all,
There is a new WWII Flight combat game that is about to hit the (online & online console) shops!
It was actually at first planned to be called 'Combat Wings: The Great Battles of WWII' and released during Feb/March 2012, but for some reason they changed the name and moved the release date till the 21st of September, called Dogfight 1942.

It seems like there will be some interesting planes featered, as a Avia B. 524 and a Fokker D 23,
Which have never been covered in a console game before (as far as I know, never on the Next Gen Consoles).

The price chouldn't be an excuse to not buy it, on Steam the price is 15euros (so probable 20dollars) and they are now giving a discount at 10% if you buy the game before its release (21st Sept).
There is also a demo available for download to try out the game already.
It is also available on Xbox Live and Playstation Network.

Anyway, if you want to see some Gameplay and Trailers, Check my Youtube Channel
With regards, Ninetalis.

Strange, there should be one,
You can try this, go to the Xbox Live Site, log in and click the download button,
When you fire up your xbox it should start downloading automatically.
I have done this myself before so it should work.

It could be that you can't find it because it is a downloadable game and those are 'Trail Games', not 'demo's'. It has been a while since I've been on Xbox Live because the ethernet port of the Xbox got fried during a thunderstorm...

With regards, Ninetalis.

Is it an Xbox game or PC only?

Steam is a free program you can download where you can play free games and buy other games like GTA, Left 4 Dead, Team fortress 2 (that one is awesome and FREE), etc.

So you can play this game on Xbox, Pc and even Playstation,
Steam is giving a discount of 10% if you buy it before the release date.

I didn't think you could download from Steam on an Xbox.

What? where did I say that?
You ask me if it is an Xbox or Pc only and I say again that you can get it from Steam, a program.
I don't know if you can download 'programs' on your xbox but I think that if you know anything from PC gaming you would surely enough know steam right?

But I will explain it, Steam is a program for PC, it works on both Imac and Windows,
You can download this for free and some games on it are free but there are also others that you will have to buy (for a fair price to say the least, especially during there sales and they've got alot of those)

THIS GAME (dogfight 1942) is available on Xbox Live and Playstation Network and Steam, but you will have to buy them separately if you want them on all platforms. (which is pretty obvious, even for a game no?)

Hope this clears things out, otherwise, go on gamespot or something...

I see now.  Got a little confused.

I don't pay Microsoft's ridiculous price to go online with the Xbox, so I probably can't download from Live.  I may try the free download from Steam on my PC and if I like it, buy the Xbox CD.

The Xbox is a bit weak on flight sims, so this may be cool to have.

Sweet I was able to get the demo off the XBOX site. Hopefully it's good I agree with dmk, I tried Birds of Steel and Top Gun and both were pretty lame. 6% downlaoaded of 1.99GB so we'll see.

DMK, no problem.
You don't need Gold membership to download from Xbox Live, you can buy a pre-paid card for Microsoft points and download the thing, the demo is free on xbox to, I almost never had a gold membership, but I was online every time that I went on Xbox.

Corvettemike, to be honest, I do not agree with you on birds of steel, it is the most awesome Flight sim on console that I've played till this date, aside of Ace combat 6 (yeah horizon was cool but I rather want the 'realistic' feeling and all that). I have Birds of Steel and really, it is awesome, it is like Sturmovik (same people that made it) and has so much more choice of aircraft and you can 'modify' the livery a bit, which is really fun!
Top Gun? Yeaaah, it sucks!

I got the demo downloaded, couldn't do much other than one mission where you had to protect Midway and the Yorktown. Was kind of disappointed there was a "on board" view but no true cockpit view (I play all my flight/racing sims 1st person). It was definately several steps ahead of the other WWII sims I've played, I'll have to put it on the "maybe list" since Forza Horizon is coming soon Propeller On BOS, i dunno what it was, I just couldn't get in to it. It was one of those play 10min get bored swap discs games for me.
