I was watching the bridge at remagen last night on military channel. Saw lots of guys carrying carbines with 30 round mags, anybody know how accurate that would be in WWII Europe ? I know it's a Hollywood movie, just curious. I won't even mention the armor used, after all it's only a movie

No I believe only 15 round magazines were used with the carbine in WWII.

The 30 round magazine was developed for the full automatic M2 version of the carbine, and that only very limited use late in WWII, but was extensively in the Korean War.

Per the book:

War Baby by Larry L. Ruth:

The M-2 initial production by Inland was April 1945 with testing on the first production M-2 at Aberdeen (USA) was April 21 thru May 7,1945

Page 241 states 30 round magazines were not yet available when the M-2 was sent for trial evaluation.
