AN L.H.S. REVIEW from TEXAS
I don,t know if anyone,s ever done this.I don,t know if it,s even allowed, but here goes.We see many comments about L.H.S. locations in the threads and I must say they are for the most part generic.I would like to get specific.
In SAN ANTONIO there is ,on BANDERA rd.a very good, naw, excellent hobby shop in a little mini-mall called FORDS LANDING.It is called HILL COUNTRY HOBBIES.It is owned by MR. GARY EMERY and his very sweet other half. This is what hobby shops are supposed to be about. If they DON,t cater to the model railroad fan.
Although the space is less than a QUARTER of the size of KINGS(another fine establishment) in AUSTIN ,(45 miles the other way.) he has great kits. He,s crammed to the ceiling with goodwill first and foremost. Then,to say he has a varied selection for every modeler is putting it mild.True,he doesn,t have a lot(very few actually) of wood stuff,he tops that with everything else you could ask for.
The other thing is like other fine shops he does take in consignments.this is a great service to those who want store credit or even cash. And it is a big help for those who NEED to trim down their stash. Along with that he is bursting at the seams with glues, paints, putties and tools. There is also a good selection of parts for those tools. He, also being a modeler himself, knows what he is talking about .
Now if you,re visiting SAN ANTONIO stop by and say hello to GARY,oh ,don,t leave empty handed though! TANKER-builder.
