Friul Tracks
Posted by DecRanger1 on Thursday, September 27, 2012 2:00 PM

I just received my first set of tracks (ATL-13) for a Marder III m  I am working on. There are no holes drilled in them at all is this right? This is my first set if metal tracks and I was expecting a pilot hole at least.

I can't say for sure, all the ones I have used had holes, some had to be cleaned up with a thumb drill, but there was no need to drill holes. These tracks came with a roll of thin wire right ?

I have heard that older Friuls were squeezed together, but I never dealt with them, all the ones I used had holes which to snake the wire to get the pivot, but no extensive drilling was necessary.

I have contact the company but have not received any response I would at least expect a pilot hole or something. They came with the wire. I guess I have to wait and see what they say. Thanks for the reply.

Yes they should have holes. It's entirely possible some might be covered slightly by the metal equivalent of flash, but not all.

Can you post a pic? That might help us help you...

I have 2 sets of these so thought i better check. The instructions do say you have to drill a hole. But mine has the holes there already. Sounds like you have a falty set.

I have my first set too.I got them for my "DICKER MAX" self propelled gun. They did have pilot holes at least in most of the parts. I will NOT be doing another treaded armor model though

.Gees-I thought 1/700 ships were bad !All I could see for some time was these little tread pieces in my minds eye.oof!  TANKER-builder

I spoke with the dealer I got them from he said they were suppose to have holes he is sending me a new set at no charge and I am sending these back. They are small and tedious, but I think they will make a big difference in the model.

Glad we could help. We all start some where. Those tracks can be a bit of a pain to build, but they are very much worth it. I love em. And great that the dealer is so helpful.
