Leave it to the National Museum of the US Air Force to do it right. Even though they got stiffed in the competition to receive one of the retired space shuttles, they are going to undoubtedly produce the finest and most interactive display of the shuttle museums. Along with the displays and exhibits going back to the Wright Brothers, the USAF Museum presents the finest facility in the world. I've linked the page showing the future shuttle display at Dayton. I encourage everyone to explore the rest of the Museum's website. The different pages and the virtual tour are awesome.

I took the summer off from the hobby, kind of. I built a full size chicken coop in the 100 degree summer sun. I'll figure out how to show a few shots once we finish some hard drive improvements on this poor old computer. Nice to be back. Format has changed. That'll take some getting used to. Rick
The one in LA kills me.. Nobody can afford to drive there to see it..
Jimmy D. - I couldn't agree more about Houston getting a raw deal on the shuttle. Oh, well ...

Well....
Most of the aerospace companies that designed & built the shuttle are in the LA area. The design / production facilities for the Redstone & Saturn V are in the San Fernando valley, and Edwards AFB (Muroc) is "nearby". That's the initial landing site for the shuttle before they built the one @ canaveral (remember when they had to put it on the back of a 747 & fly it back to the launch site?). So, LA does have a valid claim

"Don't sweat the small stuff. And.... it's ALL small stuff, until you hear INCOMING!!!!!!"
LA needs one though because they are well known for their contributions to space flight.
Well, the LA population probably HAVE done more "Space Flights" than NASA, lol..
