According to Red Green, "The instructions are that booklet you're kneelin' on while you've been trying to build this thing."...

Is that what those pieces of paper are for? I thought some one on the assembly line threw in some sketches they had. Just Kidding . I do believe ALL instructions should be read.

This gives you a good build and if you change anything ,you know if the kit can support the changes , BEFORE you build it.This prepares you for your foray to the aftermarket.

Yeah,

My instructor in Solidworks says the girls do better because they read the instructions all the way through, while the guys just jump in go "WTF, why don't this work"?

As in model-building, the Army has an abbreviation that's used as well.. When a Private says, "I can't figure this thing out, Sergeant..", the most-often heard reply is, "RTFM young man!" "RTFM" means, READ THE F*****N' (Freakin') MANUAL!" ... So, as in the military, it's useful for modeling and modeling forums as well, although ya need to change the "M" to "I" for "Instructions"...

So, for all you Cherry members (and some of you old-timers as well).. RTFI!

The problem with reading the instructions is that I never have any parts left over when I'm finished.

Don Stauffer

I have heard so many times in model building, the advice, "first thing, read the instructions!"

This is the first ting I do before i start building anything. I read and study the instructions several times, going over the sprues and double checking things. I often will not follow the building sequence to tailor my build to my taste. It's a lot better to familiarize yourself with the build before the wrong part is glued on.Surprise

It's human nature to by pass the formalities and jump into the unknown. I've seen it in so many senerios, but it is a very male charactoristic ...

Read the instructions!

I had to use the Forum Help area recently because of a problem in marking messages as read.  In spite of the fact that that forum is supposed to be about help in using FSM forums, the majority of the threads were about specific modeling problems.  This group gets that way at times (lately it has been pretty good).

I have heard so many times in model building, the advice, "first thing, read the instructions!"  What will it take for folks to do that?  I remember telling a car dealer that the manual for my car was a bit inadequate.  The response is that nobody reads manuals anymore, so the company doesn't put much effort into writing them.  Still, I think FSM does a good job giving us many forums, and labeling them quite well!
