I Stand Admonished , I will try to be more correct in the future .

I did not mean to create a fire-storm here . I have abandoned more correct ways of communicating, because as long as folks "got it" then it was fine. I did not mean to add difficulty  to someone,s ability to understand me.

I always ,even as a kid ,had problems of where to put the comma, hyphen , whatever. This created problems in my higher education too. It,s not that I didn,t listen,I just forget to do it correctly.

I hope all of you that find my posts difficult to read will reconsider, and, give this old man another chance.Yes,DOROTHY,even old folks can learn again.

I apologise for being just me and not worrying about grammar. Shoot, most of the folks I meet at I.P.M.S. gatherings don,t even pronounce the names of some stuff properly.I don,t correct them , but , take it in stride.

I went to a show once and got accused of trying to be better than everyone else. Why ? well,I used proper diction and correct wording in my speaking to others. This made me just throw the rules away ,and, I have done it in the written forum too. SORRY !!    TANKER-builder

No need to apologize. Not everyone is perfect on spelling or punctuation, myself included. I've been able to decipher your posts, whereas another member, whom will go nameless, comes and goes with crazy poetic responses that have nothing to do with the initial posts!

I remember any time I think as 100% certain, I try to undertake this quote:
“I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.”
— Oliver Cromwell, Letter to the general assembly of the Church of Scotland (August 3, 1650)

Occasional factual, grammatical, or spelling variations are inherent to this thesis and should not be considered as defects, as they enhance the individuality and character of this document.

It's pretty simple really.

Generally, people will read and post as they see fit. If someone reads a post they find difficult to follow or have nothing to contribute to, they'll leave it alone. If someone finds a post they have something to contribute to, they will. That's the way of all online forums.

It doesn't become a problem until someone makes it a problem. Posting a topic like the other thread (yes, we know which one) invites people to comment. Yes it did raise a bit of a heated debate. People have made their points and, I think,  retired to their respective corners. In time, it will sink from view and will largely be forgotten, as is the way with forums in general.

The best thing to do is take the lessons on board and let it go, not raise a new discussion which simply brings the subject up again.

Just let it fade away.

Hi Tanker et al,

We all come to the forum with different ability levels, no matter if it's modeling, typing, grammar, spelling, or zombie whacking. Sometimes we rattle off responses on the keyboard at 8,000 words per minute because we have only a short time to get an idea out before it's back to the salt mine. It's not always possible to reread a post and go back and correct the little mistakes.

Don't worry about it.

Also, commas and apostrophes baffle many people, including experts. All you have to do is look up the argument over the serial comma. (BTW, this is not an invitation to discuss the serial comma.)

What's awesome is that if we don't understand something that another member has written, we can ask for clarification.

So, everyone, from an editor at FSM, let's cut each other a little slack when it comes to spelling and grammar and typing. If something doesn't make sense to you, just ask for clarification.

I'm going to lock this thread. This is NOT a punitive measure. Rather, as Phil_H said, there's [typos happne] really is nothing to apologize for, and I don't think we need to belabor the point.

Have fun out there in modeling land and I hope to see more of your builds on the forum soon.

Tim
