Bit of Warhammer Fun

I've often considered getting a Warhammer model for a change of pace because they do look quite nice and are generally very well moulded, but as you pointed out, they are quite a bit more expensive compared to a similar sized model.

That looks really cool but the masking for it must have been a real nightmare.

I first used a metal based paint and then successive layers of tint, etc. I ended with a wash and then the copper for the raised details, and of course a blue pigment for the claws. It was taxing but fun.

I never got into Warhammer, but I played Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings tabletop game.  I almost liked painting the figures more than playing the games (though I love the subject matter.)  It's part of what got me back into the model hobby.

Within our group of model builders here in Colorado we are not limited to standard military and civilian subjects but rather we enjoy all types of media to build in kit or scratch built. We have an event in Loveland Colorado coming up soon, maybe we will see you there!

That's awesome. I'm not a gamer either but I've always loved the genre from the Conan series and other books I read from grade school on, my choice in music (old metal) and even the one PC game my brother and I spent countless hours playing a few years ago (Baldur's Gate), I've always loved fantasy. It's good to see this posted here on the forum. Good work too. I might eventually check into something like that myself.

It certainly is a refreshing direction in modelling where your not just assembling a kit for some old guy to measure with his micrometer or count rivets, its entertaining. I think there will always be a place for the OCD modellers, but I prefer to spend my money on what I enjoy.
