To build AND educate:

These are fine attributes for any modeler . Don't worry about the size of the " stash " just take your time ,enjoy and savor every minute it takes .THEN , when you share the history of the piece you;ve gotten the pleasure of building a small bit of history too . The when you share it , you will be getting the real pleasure from the observer as you explain what the model stands for . Very good aim .

Thanks Bish for taking the time to share your thoughts. I did forget to articulate why I want to get the stash built. My ultimate aim is to have them on display in my home so that any visitors, particularly young ones will notice them and ask questions. Then I will use the opportunity to teach some History and convey my appreciation for the sacrifice of those that preceeded us. The way that things are going now many of them are clueless. It may seem like a lofty goal, but I'm going to give it a try.... and still continue to build and colllect as well.                                                 Bob

I'll second Tojo. At the end of the day, it takes as long as it takes. last year i only completed 4 builds. This year i would like to build more, but i am not going to knock myself out over it or risk lowering the quality. Some days even though i decide what i wnat to achieve that day, i don't touch a model.

Some people can build more than one at a time. Personally, i find it confuseing. I gave up on it a long time ago. Then last month i thought i would try it again just for a couple of builds. I even decided to set certain days for one build and other days for the other one. But that didn't work. I just ended up concentrating on what i classed the priority. To be honest, i don't think you save that much timed when it comes to painting.

I'm in my early 40's and got a stash of over 200. I will be very lucky to build all those, and i still add to it, but not as much as i used to. But what the hell. I can always take them with me.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Thanks Tojo.... duley noted. I have been pondering the possibility of doing about 5 or 6 a year over the next 10 years, which would get me to retirement ( hopefully ). Then I could really enjoy having some extra time to finish the remailing kits. Of course I'm sure that I will pick up some more along the way as new ones become available that are in my areas of interest. I'm looking forward to the journey.        Bob

I think there's no need to change your approach, you sound like you are turning it in to work, there is no need to rush,no need to thin the stash by building faster, just build at a pace and style that causes you to enjoy yourself, dont worry about the stash,no need for more pressure,we get that at work, this is our hobby.

hmm are you planing on not buying anymore too until you build all you have right now? If so I wish you the best of luck on that. I do think you have the right idea about going at it.

I'm sure that this topic has been discussed before. But since I'm relatively new to modeling I am going to give it a try. My goal is to build everything that I have. Right now I have around 70 kits, 1/48 scale, WWII aircraft, WWI aircraft, some armor and vehicles. I have been trying to think of different approaches like picking two or more kits that may take the same paint ( interior or exterior ) and building them at the same time so that I don't have as much airbrush cleaning to do. I also thought about doing several builds at the same time, with one being a difficult build ( lots of photoetch, scratch details, etc ) and then working a few simple builds at the same time. I know that the more I build I will see continued improvement in my meager skills and I will continue to build more quickly. I do have to train myself to not get too hung up in areas where things will hardly be visible, even with magnification. If anyone has any thoughts on this area please feel free to share them. I would also like to thank everyone who has pitched in with advise and words of encouragement in my builds so far. It is greatly appreciated. Later....           Bob Henry
