"Killer" Caldwell's mount....

So I've been reading up a bit on this fellow for a project I have in mind and I am having trouble finding a bit of information. I am hoping that some of you folks can help me out. Does anyone know what Caldwell was flying when he shot down Wolfgang Lippert's 109? I am thinking that he was flying a P-40B but I'm not sure?
