Has anyone heard from Hans Von Hammer used to be a regular on this forum.

No, he has been away for a few months now. I believe he was having some issues with internet connection. I was hoping he was going to be back to run the D-day GB. So I am guessing it must be something major for him to miss that.

I already wondered for some time, when is a thread like this going to pop up. The fact, that he's missing sure is disturbing. The world wonders, as the-man-whose-name-is-not-to-be-spoken used to write...

Have a nice day

Well I am hoping that he is at least in good health and circumstances, and just too busy to check in here... he is certainly missed by yours truly here.

I asked him that very question one time. I think he said something along the lines that this site was already enough to keep him involved enough, he didn't need more sites to keep active in the hobby.

I miss Hans also, we had sort of a friendly opposite thing in our posts,,,,,,,think Hasegawa vs Monogram, Enamel vs Acrylic, resin vs home made,,,,,,,,,wow,,,,,,,what did we agree on??,,,,,,hah,,,,,,,,,oh,,,,we agreed on enjoying plastic model building

I am sure he will be back whenever he gets his real life stuff all sorted,,,,,,,,sometimes we all end up too busy to post even once a month,,,,,,I remember being thought of as an MIA on MM once, because I hadn't logged in anywhere for 3 or 4 months,,,,,,,,Anne was getting emails asking about my health, I had been busy so long

I sure miss Hans.Crying

He always posted interesting builds, knows hundreds of scratch building tips,

and threw in his "cranky , but love-able old codger" routine just to keep us lurking.Wink

He had some major surgery to his... ? knees, hip, leg?!??  Maybe he's completely healed up & too busy using the rehabbed limbs to sit still & build a model kit?!??

I'm sure the Hammer is doing just fine.... at least I hope so.  As a fellow Hawkeye, I should just look him up sometime.

Yes, he did have a lot going on. Medical issues with him and the baroness, working bail enforcement, working for a guy flipping houses, and occasionaly chiming in on here...

He's a staunch supporter of Monogram kits and groused at those people who railed against raised panel lines.  He's a proponent of being a modeller and not just an assembler.  All of those points made him one of my favorite posters here on this site.  I hope he's still out there and that he returns to us soon!  Smile

Last time I corresponded with Mike (Hans) was 2 years ago.  As of then he was living in Ames, Iowa.  If anyone want to drop him a line, PM me for his address.
