Blueline, you are not alone!  I am the same way.  I check on eBay at least twice a day for deals, I go to Craigslist looking for people selling kits, I network with all my friends for any news of estate sales (or people they know who like to trade).  Yeah, it is a serious problem.....but ain't it fun!

I have a problem buying models I don't have room for. Like the larger 1/48 bombers B-29, B-17, B-24 etc. And I just bought a 1/32 JU-88

I have repeated that procedure hundreds and hundreds of times,,,,,,still don't have a problem with it, I will probably do it again at the next five shows we go to.

Every time I go into a hobby shop or browse eBay or thumb through pages of my Squadron mail order catalog, I see dozens, maybe even hundreds of kits that do not interest me in the least bit and I wouldn't want even if I won the lottery.

Of course there are certain kits I do want and buy, some I'd like but know I'd never build, etc.

I know the feeling.  I'll be checking out kits on eBay and come across one that I did as a kid and the memories slap me across the face.  I'll want to get it just cuz!  Then I see the price and that feeling usually subsides!

  Every man and  woman , boy and girl , live modeler out there can relate to this . As to finding one on the " Bay " that you built many  years ago . I had the experience of a fellow modeler GIVING me one of them . Yes , it's rare and does happen .You just have to keep the faith and fill every shelf you have now and in the future ! Then when you are my age , you can look at the stash which grows slower , but , still grows ,  and say to yourself ." My gosh , I've got to live to a hundred to build all these  ".Yup that's right , this is the way it works .  Model On  !  Tanker-Builder .

I have about 10 models in my head right now that I want to find and put together. All of those 10, are vehicles that affected me one way or another when I was growing up as a kid, and first experiencing adult hood, etc. There are literally hundreds more, that I want to get just because I like them, not to mention they stir my imagination, and just plain blow my mind!

Without wanting to be a killjoy, I would really counsel for quality over quantity.  I look at my stash now and know I will have enough to last me well into retirement.  Lets face it, what will happen to the stash when we are gone ?  Well, our kids will let the rest of the family pick over it, and, extrapolising what state the hobby will be in 20-30 years time, I predict there wont be a lot of interest.  So into the trash or off to the yard sale.  I'm as susceptible to the "lure of the plastic" as the next man (well maybe except Bronto) But I have also tempered that with a healthy dose of reality.  Or is having a huge stash our refusal to deal with our own mortality ?  I dont want to have a stash so big that it gets a mention in my last will & testament !

Don't worry about it.  Just enjoy.

Also, very well said.  Those "early" years where you are affected the most is when most of us started modeling.  So, yeah, it affected us............I'm going to be 46 this month!   I should just go buy ALL the ones on my "youth" wish list!   Sorry...I mean, yeah, I'll get them.....eventually!

So I'm tidying up for the next project, thinking of this thread and wondering if I will have a stash like you guys some day. And how that is going to go over with the new boss.

Then as I was putting paint back where it belongs, I realised I have accumulated all of the paint you see here since March, during the build of my 'welcome back' kit. I used each one. Yeah right.

I don't have a problem, you guys have a problem. Right, then......
