masking with Bare-Metal foil / removal of adhesive from clear parts

I saw someone over on a different website mentioned Goo-Gone, hardware stores will often have small bottles if you don't need the industrial size.  I have a bottle sitting on the shelf, but haven't used it myself.

Get a bottle of "Goo-Gone" from your local Wal-Mart or hardware store.  It removes the residue easily and doesn't harm plastic or pain

Boy, I cannot remember which forum, but this exact question was just asked in another forum (Techniques, maybe?) and there were lots of answers.  Anyone else see that and remember which forum, so we can refer Sallamaa to that?  Try Techniques, that is my guess as to where it is current.
