I have a " SINKING " feeling .

Did I say that ?

What a revolting developement this is . I built this very unique model for myself and darned it .The ship is sinking with the port side awash slightly . LOL.LOL. I haven't done any Dios since the late seventies when I won a class trophy for one entitled " Angels in Time " In which a " Secretary class C.G. Cutter in extremely heavy seas is fixing to rescue two downed fliers .I used forced perspective and everything I could think of . Cutter with bow dry ,  stern under in a Big wave and this little float in the wave trough .Now I have this ship (strange It looks kinda like the " Andrea Doria ") with the Ile De France standing by , boats down rendering aid .Wonder why that is . I do claim this though . Of all the maritime work I've done over the years , both 1:1 and scale models in all form of material ,  I think this was the hardest thing I ever did . I won't show photos of it because simply , I am not proud of the water effects  . I seem to see an ommission , But can't put my finger in it or on it .Hopefully the ship won't sink out of site before I figure out what's missing . Could it be not enough foam , or to few boat wakes ? Who knows ? I loved doing it though .I think when I kick I'll leave it to DON STAUFFER .HE! HE!   Tanker-Builder

TB:

I can certainly understand your reluctance to show photos of work you don't think is up to your standards---I've been guilty of selecting or de-selecting pics to "hide the flaws" more than once, myself---but in this case it might help. If there seems to be "something missing," maybe a few extra sets of eyes would help on zeroing in on it. Most of the folks here are pretty civil, so the replies are likely to be more positive that not.

Besides, it's probably not as bad as you may thing. We're usually our own worst critics.

Just a thought. Either way, I hope you can whip it up to a standard you're happy with.

I remember a neat sunken ship dio at Manitowac a few years ago.  Forget which ship, but it was sunk in South Pacific in WW2, and the builder claims to have actually dived on wreck. it was barnacle-covered and lying on the bottom.  Very nice model!

Don :

Hey guy ! thanks to you and gregbale I figured out what the problem is .The waters directly around the event , especially at the hull edges aren't roiled or disturbed enough . That and the water color is to bright a blue ! This coupled with turquoise metal deck areas makes the ship kind of blend in . Hopefully changing these areas will fix it .Thanks Again !    Tanker - Builder
