Photo-etch doorways

Adding photo-etch doors to a ship model, do you have to remove the doors on the model or can you overlay them on top of the existing doors?  The instructions does not say.

I've never done photo-etch on a ship, or any PE for that matter, but if it were me I'd sand the existing stuff flat, then install the PE door.

Now , that's an interesting question .

you may have the option depending on the mfgr. and the scale .If it's 1/700 or 1/350 you can and could sand the surface smooth and go from there .i have found that in some cases the open door frame can be aligned to the Molded door .Problem is you do not want to have the door frame standing free of the surface . I sand them All down . Marcus , it depends , I think , as to how long you have been doing ship models .If you live in an area where there a floating museum then go aboard and check these things out to see what the need you have will be .     Tanker - Builder
